About The Rummage Crew

Ken Yeung is a dad in British Columbia, Canada. He writes The Rummage Crew for his two daughters, and for every kid who would rather fix a thing than throw it away.

At sunset Zoey leans on her big sister Aria's shoulder on the porch steps, hugging Poley, with the empty teal wagon parked by the gate.

Why these books

Kids hear "recycle" a lot. They hear much less about the steps that come first: using less, using things again, and fixing what breaks. The Rummage Crew is about those steps, told as adventures with a crew of friends rather than as lessons.

Each book takes one R, and each R belongs to one kid in the crew. Put together, they cover what grown-ups call the circular economy: keeping things in use for as long as possible, then making them into something new.

The crew

The crew is a mix of kids you might meet on any street: two sisters, a fixer, an organizer, a gardener who uses a wheelchair and a detective, plus a raccoon who gave the series its name. Every one of them has a real job in every story.
