About Aria

Aria is nine, the oldest of the crew, and Zoey's big sister. She never goes anywhere without her paint-splattered apron.

When something old needs a new life, Aria is the one who sees what it could look like. In Book 1 she paints the rescued wagon bright teal with a row of little gold stars, and she quietly mends her little sister's polar bear.

Aria is patient and kind. When Zoey is upset, Aria crouches down to her level and says, "Don't worry."

Aria leads the Rethink books. She is the one who looks at a rusty old wagon and sees a donation wagon.

Aria in The Secret of the Squeaky Wagon

Aria paints the old wagon bright teal with gold stars while Julius the cat bats at her apron and Rummage climbs down the fence.
Aria dipped her widest brush into bright teal paint. Swish! Swish!

Try it with Aria: give an old thing a new look

  1. Pick something plain that still works: a jar, a box, a flowerpot.
  2. Wash and dry it with a grown-up.
  3. Paint one colour all over and let it dry.
  4. Add a pattern on top: dots, stripes or stars like Aria's wagon.
